Sidhartha Giri, MD

Sidhartha Giri received his MD in Microbiology from Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, Chennai, India after completing his medical education from VSS Medical College, Burla, India. He has worked on candidemia in ICU settings, evaluating antifungal drug resistance in candidemia patients and associated risk factors. He was a senior resident in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry before joining the Wellcome Trust Research Laboratory in 2012.
His current research evaluates the role of inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) in inducing mucosal immunity in children who have already received at least 5 doses of OPV with the last dose being not less than 6 months prior to recruitment. The study also includes development of assays to look salivary and fecal IgA responses to the IPV.
