Dr. Saravanakumar P. K.

Saravanakumar is currently pursuing his PhD in Epidemiology. He studied the epidemiology of soil-transmitted helminths in a tribal population and worked in projects evaluating factors that affect immune responses to oral vaccines.Studying the factors contributing to poor performance of vaccines in developing world settings is of public health importance. Saravanakumar's research aims to study the association between the presence of enteric pathogens and seroconversion rates following a dose of monovalent Oral Poliovirus 3 (mOPV3) vaccine in children 6-11 months of age who are seronegative for neutralizing antibodies to Poliovirus 3 after routine immunization.
