Anna B Pulimood, MD, PhD

Professor of Pathology

Anna Pulimood graduated from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India in 1987. She completed her specialization in Pathology from CMC Vellore in 1995 and joined the Wellcome Trust Research Laboratory in the Division of Gastrointestinal Sciences at CMC where she trained in G.I. Pathology and Electron Microscopy. Between 1998 and 2001 she worked at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne as a research associate in the Departments of Surgery and Pathology. She completed her PhD on the Pathology of IBD in 2010. Since 2001 she has worked in the Division of G.I.Sciences and Department of Pathology at CMC with clinical, research and teaching responsibilities. Between 2006 and 2010 she was appointed Deputy Director in charge of Gifts and Grants and helped in the administration of institutional grants from USAID. In 2010 she was made Vice Principal in charge of the undergraduate curriculum and is responsible for curriculum planning, the e-learning unit, the elective student program and is advisor to the institutional libraries. She is a member of the Medical Education Unit at CMC and initiated the setting up of institutional committees to train faculty and develop curricula in Ethics and Communication skills for medical students. She has also introduced workshops in leadership and management into the undergraduate curriculum in CMC. She was a member of the institutional administrative committee and the Institutional IT advisory group. She helped start a Solid Waste recycling project for the Hospital and College with the help of a local NGO and Womens Self- Help groups in 2005 and continues to help the project as a member of their advisory committee.
